The sea's restless energy carves luminous ice into transient sculptures upon the black sand.

There are places you photograph because they are beautiful, and then there are places that completely overwhelm you. Diamond Beach at Jökulsárlón was one of those places for me. Standing there, watching enormous pieces of ancient ice scattered across endless black volcanic sand, I genuinely felt that there could be nowhere else on Earth quite like this.
